Tech giants revealed their choices when it comes to applications during GigaOm's Roadmap 2014 conference that took place in San Francisco, California. Some of the companies at the event included Pinerest, Samsung, and Microsoft.

According to CNN, the apps that made it to the list include Slack and Songza, just to name a few. These were highlighted because of their abilities and impressive features users seem to look for.

Slack is one of the top choices because it's been designed for collaborative purposes and allows people from all over the world to communicate with each other. Basically, it serves as an online forum where co-workers can discuss, make plans, share ideas, and complete tasks together.

"It has given us the conversation back," said Valerie Casey, Vice President of the Samsung Open Innovation Center. She even said this was an app she wishes were her own creation.

The Last Guide Company's CEO and co-founder Josh Williams also has good things to say about the tool. He pointed out that, while its "ability to customize and add your own emoji is just truly bizarre," it does so in a good way.

Then there's Songza. This app is basically a music streaming program that comes with its own song recommendations. There are several playlists with specific moods and emotions in mind to choose from, all of which were put together by experts.

Williams said during the conference this app is one of his top choices because of the variation its playlists offers.

"One of my favorite [choices] is - it's Monday afternoon, play music for quitting your job. There is a human aspect to that I think is very delightful," said Williams.
