A past midnight shooting inside a packed San Jose club in California sent hundreds of partygoers, including singer Chris Brown, scrambling for the exit or ducking for safety - an incident that ended with five people shot and wounded on Sunday.
Police could not determine the victims' conditions but authorities said all of them are expected to survive. Brown was not hurt in the shooting.

San Jose police said a couple of suspects were taken to the station after the shooting but declined to go into details.
Witnesses said the shooting began at about 1 in the morning. Police came to find four people who sustained gunshot wounds. They were taken to a hospital where, a short time later, another victim walked in for treatment.
Some club goers recorded on video the pandemonium inside the club. The footage, which was uploaded on social media, showed Brown performing when shots rang and sent people in panic.
A best-selling, Grammy-winning artist, Brown has a loyal fan base even as he struggles with image issues due to several run-ins with the law. The singer's highly publicized violent incidents involved other singers, most notably a domestic-violence case five years ago that also figured pop artist Rihanna, who was Brown's girlfriend at the time.
In August, Brown was co-hosting a party at a nightclub in Los Angeles where Suge Knight and two others were shot.
According to promotional materials at the San Jose club, the party was moved, at the eleventh hour, from the Rockbar Theater because of capacity demands.
On early Sunday morning, the parking lot around the closed club was littered with signs of the night's shooting - left high-heeled shoes, scarves and broken cocktail glasses. Several club goers who left their purses, identification cards or car keys in panic, showed up to recover them, only to be told by police they are banned from entering the crime scene.
