Diamond said that he and his wife were driving to Middletown to have dinner after they voted on Election Day but the weather made them change their plans. He adds that his wife insisted that they should eat at the station and wait for the weather to clear.
While at the gas station, Diamond bought the ticket for US$10, stuck it in his wallet and forgot all about it. The following day, when he went out to play golf with his friends, he heard from them that the winning ticket was sold at the gas station where he bought his ticket the other day. It was only then that he realized he was a multimillionaire.
"I simply can't envision that kind of money. It's very hard to fathom. We feel very blessed," Diamond exclaimed.
Diamond plans a trip to Hawaii with his wife to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary and also plans to help their family and the community they are part of.
Diamond is not the only one who benefitted from the lottery ticket. The kind-hearted educator shared his blessing by giving US$10,000 to Mike Nayfash, the gas station owner, as a token of gratitude for selling him the said ticket. He also shared his blessing with his staff by giving them fat Christmas bonuses.
