A year after deciding to leave apart Academy Award nominated veteran actor Gary Oldman and his wife Alexandra Edenborough are now ready to divorce their marriage.

The 56-year-old actor has split with his fourth wife more than one year ago.

The actor confirmed his rep's statement about their divorce.

"Alex and I had several great years together, and we shared a great love during that time; but there is big difference in our ages and ultimately that gap inevitably revealed different lifestyle interests," he said in a statement as reported by Ace Showbiz.

The actor also revealed that their separation has greatly saddened him but still he was "grateful for the good times we did have."

Despite their separation, the ex-couple have remained good friends.

"Of course I wish Alex the best happiness in the future," the statement continued.

Edenborough initiated the divorce from Oldman on January 9, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.

Court filing revealed that Edenborough, an English jazz singer, is asking Oldman for spousal support and that he pay for her legal bills.

Oldman has been married and divorced three times before he tied the know with Edenborough.

Oldman, who was hailed as one of the greatest living actors and has appeared in such films as the Harry Potter film series and Dark Knight trilogy, has been previously married to Lesley Manville, Uma Thurman and Donya Fiorentino.
