Yesterday, January 14, Kawashima tearfully said her goodbyes to her mother whom she had worried a lot for after being diagnosed again with stage-four lung cancer in her already failing health condition back in 2013.
On the same day, Kawashima, along with her sister, met up with the media in order to express their words for their late mother. Kawashima broke down numerous times during the interview as she recalled her memories with Mrs. Kawashima.
The actress expressed regret for her loss, recalling the time when her mother was still alive. Kawashima expressed her love for her mother and praised her for taking care of her the most among her two other siblings.
Kawashima also expressed that she has asked for her mother's forgiveness for always making her worry after her. She shared that she promised her mother that she will be working harder in the future and hoped that, wherever her mother is now, she will not worry about her anymore.
The actress has also expressed that her mother seemed to have had a premonition about her death, being unusually active the day before her death despite slipping in and out of consciousness on the hospital for months prior to her death.
Mrs. Kawashima is said to have even waved goodbye to her friends and relatives, making her actress daughter and other relatives prepare for the worst. Furthermore, the late Mrs. Kawashima is said to have purchased a niche before passing away.
Kawashima's mother's funeral is scheduled to be held on January 28 or January 31 and would be cremated afterwards. Reports say that Mrs. Kawashima's remains would be laid to rest in Wanli, New Taipei City according to her wishes.
