The extremist group Boko Haram has taken more lives in recent weeks as they scoured more villages in Nigeria, prompting the international community to plan a multinational military intervention in the hopes of stopping the insurgency in the country.
As the group slaughtered more civilians starting January 3 of this year, the debate about the multinational force has increased. In one of the most violent attacks since the kidnapping of the 300 Chibok girls, the militants killed hundreds of civilians the northeastern town of Baga in the Borno state in just four days.

Amnesty International has already released satellite images showing the condition of the country after Boko Haram's attack. Thwe photos showed over 3,700 structures which were either damaged or destroyed in the rampage.
However, the satellite images are said to be incomplete as the Amnesty International could not get access to the areas controlled by the extremists.
According to experts, the slaughtering in Baga was Boko Haram's way of sending a message to people organizing militias. This was reportedly the group's response to the civilians' defiance.
President Goodluck Jonathan reportedly visited Maiduguri, Borno State's capital, on Thursday, his first visit since a state of emergency was announced on May of last year.
According to a statement released by his office, the president, who will be running for re-election on February 14, have met with troops that fought with the extremists. He also visited the civilians who fled Baga and were staying in a camp in the said area.
United States Secretary John Kerry also said he is working with British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond to discuss the special initiative to deal with the insurgency although he did not elaborate on the details of their meeting.
Boko Haram is one of the most evil and most threatening terrorist entities in the world and that their attacks are against humanity should already be addressed, said Kerry. However, the multinational force meddling with the attacks might be far from possible as the Nigerian government is still doubtful of the help being offered by the international community.
