Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, the two biggest-selling acts in the U.K. for 2014, lead the race at the Brit Award nominations.

Smith grabbed five nominations for the following categories: British breakthrough act, Best British male solo artist, Best British single and best video for "Stay With Me,"  and Best British album for In The Lonely Hour.

Smith Sheeran, who was earlier recognized as the most streamed act in U.K. on 2014, grabs four nods, including best British male solo artist, best British single and best video for "Thinking Out Loud" and best British album for X.

Both actor would vie for categories, save for the breakthrough honor.

George Ezra also received nominations: best British breakthrough, best British male solo artist, best British single for "Budapest" and best British album for Wanted on Voyage.

U.K.'S best selling boy group, One Direction, was nominated for best video and best British group.

The Brit Awards is the biggest and most anticipated music awards in the U.K. Both music industry insiders and the general public decide who receives the award.

This year's Brit Awards is slated Feb. 25, with some of the biggest musical acts to perform in the event.
