(Photo : Activision ) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Madden 15 and Destiny hit the top charts for video games sales in 2014.
The video games industry in 2014 might have been highlighted by a generous heap of broken, bad or boring games, but there were some good games amongst the clutter.
However, in the NPD sales chart, it shows a bleak tale of the previous year, with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hitting the top spot and Madden 15 taking the second prize.

The NPD Chart tracks sales on all consoles, but does not account for pre-owned, digital or bundled sales, meaning popular Steam titles are not added to the list.
Here is the list of the top 10 best sellers of 2014:
-
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (360, XBO, PS4, PS3, PC)
-
Madden NFL 15 (360, PS4, XBO, PS3)
-
Destiny (XBO, PS4, 360, PS3)
-
Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3)
-
Minecraft (360, PS3, XBO, PS4)
-
Super Smash Bros. (3DS, NWU)
-
NBA 2K15 (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3, PC)
-
Watch Dogs (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3, PC, NWU)
-
FIFA 15 (360, PS4, XBO, PS3, Wii, 3DS, PSV)
-
Call Of Duty: Ghosts (360, PS3, XBO, PS4, NWU, PC)
Surprisingly, both of Ubisoft's key titles Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed: Unity have not managed to hit the top 10 list, although both games did come out rather late in 2014.
It does show the state of video games in 2014 when all three of EA Sports' games managed to hit top 10 spots, alongside 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts, a rather poor title by Infinity Ward.
Watch Dogs is another foul smelling disaster, promised to be the future of open world stealth and hacking, it turned out to be a little more than a reskinned Ubisoft open world game with some interesting hacking features.
Grand Theft Auto V continued to stay in the top 10 and managed a top 2 finish in the month of December. Rockstar and 2K will not doubt reap the benefits of PC, after two years of selling directly to consoles.
2015 looks to be a better year for video games in general, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Overwatch, Evolve and No Man's Sky all looking like interesting titles.
