Virgin Mobile has updated its pre-paid plans to offer less customization, but more smartphones and clearer deals.
Virgin Mobile has updated its pre-paid offers, moving away from the highly customizable old contracts to a more standard range of plans.
Customers can now choose between single and multi line plans, all apart from the $35 per month option have unlimited text and SMS.
The $35 option will come with unlimited minutes, 300 minutes and 2.5GB of 3G/4G data, for an extra $10 users can upgrade to unlimited texts. Virgin Mobile also offers an extra 1GB of data for $10 per month, or 2GB of data for $15 per month.

On multi-line plans, 2 users can get unlimited talk, text and 4GB of 3G/4G of data for $65; 3 users can get double the data for $90; and 5 users can get 12GB of data for $115 per month. Virgin Mobile includes its mobile hotspots on multi-line plans.
Virgin Mobile has a wider selection of smartphones in the new plans, including the HTC Desire 510, LG Tribute, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, and a few other low-end devices for less than $150.
Users can still grab some customization on their pre-paid deal, like the $5 per month extra for unlimited social media and music streaming usage, meaning Facebook, Spotify and Pandora will not cost anything on the data plan.
However, this is definitely a way for Virgin Mobile to have a better idea of what customers are paying for pre-paid plans, something its owner Sprint might have pushed forward.
Pre-paid plans are starting to become popular again, with the rise of MetroPCS and T-Mobile's pre-paid plans winning over millions of customers in 2014.
