Shiloh-Jolie Pitt has been trending non-stop simply because she likes to dress up like a boy, but should the media join in and address Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter as "John?"

There have been two write-ups, which insist that the power couple's 8-year old daughter should be called John. Rachel Pepper, an Alternet writer, has referred to Shiloh as John in her recent article, in which she declares 2015 as "the year of the transgender child." On the other hand, Amand Walker, an AL.com writer, tells Southerners that they should support Shiloh's decision to change her name to John because of the Battle of Shiloh. Walker then explains that it was "the first battle of the Civil War that saw a large number of casualties."

However, Angelina and Brad didn't name their daughter based on the Battle of Shiloh. As reported by The Daily Beast, their eldest biological was given a name which her grandparents have dreamed up a few decades ago. "Angelina Jolie was almost born Shiloh Baptist Voight. The inspiration for the name was a truck her father, Jon Voight, and her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, were stuck behind while taking a drive through the woods." But reports say that Angelina's mom, Marcheline changed her mind the last minute because it was "too Hebrew."

In Shiloh's case, however, she didn't change her name to John simply because it was "too Hebrew" or because there have been so many casualties in the Battle of Shiloh. And most importantly, she didn't change her name because she's transgender. But Rachel Pepper disagrees. She believes that Shiloh is now "out" in an article she wrote, entitled, "10 things every parent of a transgender child needs to know. Supported by celebrity parents who are known to be LGBT savvy, John Jolie-Pitt presents us with the very public manifestation of the new vanguard of transgender children: out, unapologetic, self-assured and supported by their families," Pepper writes. "Thanks to kids like John Jolie-Pitt, and families who are willing to step forward in support, trans children will have many more role models this year."

Then again, the John name wasn't about Shiloh coming out as transgender. As reported by the Inquisitr, reports about Shiloh wanting to change her name came from Angelina's interview with Oprah Winfrey last 2008. Angelina told Oprah the story about how Shiloh wanted to be called John because she was a big fan of the Peter Pan character, which has the same name. Though Angelina never referred to her daughter as John after that.

According to a report by Hollywood Life, Angelina does not agree with judging children simply based on how they outwardly express themselves. "Society always has something to learn when it comes to the way we judge each other, label each other. We have far to go."
