Cristiano Ronaldo may have reason to celebrate this time around as Portugal's recent World Cup match against the US had a significantly better outcome than the devastating loss the soccer team experienced against Germany earlier on in the this year's competition.
Ronaldo and his team took on the US on Sunday at Arena da Amazonia in Manaus, the most remote of Brazil's 12 World Cup venues.

The stakes were high at the game as a victory would have pushed the American team straight through to the round of 16 and made the passage significantly easier for Portugal as well. But it wasn't meant to be, instead of either side securing a win, the US and Portugal met in the middle with a 2-2 tie.
The two countries have played one another only five times in history - the most memorable perhaps being the 2002 World Cup quarterfinals where the Americans took the win with a 3-2 victory over the Portuguese national team.
This tie was sorely needed by Portugal, who suffered a devastating 4-0 loss against powerhouse Germany in a nail-biting match last week. Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, perhaps one of the most well-known soccer players in the world, trended on Twitter shortly after for crying when his team failed so abysmally trying to take on the Germans.
Despite no win in Sunday's match for either the US or Portugal, both teams are still in good shape moving forward.
The U.S. national team is in the midst of playing the so-called "Group of Death" which is comprised of Ghana, Portugal, and Germany. With a 2-1 win over Ghana and the recent tie, the US seems to stand a fair chance against Germany, who tied Ghana for 2-2 earlier in the World Cup.
As for Portugal, the team will be facing Ghana on June 27 and there are high hopes that the team can bring home the win.
However, Portugal's fans would perhaps do well not to rely on star Cristiano Ronaldo too much. The athlete has been nursing a left-knee injury for some time and, if his recent bout of tears prove anything, it's possible that he physically and emotionally can't handle taking on the threat which Ghana seems to pose in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
