Maggie Cheung Is China's Highest Paid Actress

Hong Kong-based Chinese actress Maggie Cheung is Chinese film industry's highest-paid actress on a per-movie basis. While Cheung has decided to focuse her attention on the music, the actress still commands 20 million yuan (US$3.23 million) per picture. The actress' last movie appearance was in 2010.

Following Cheung is Zhang Ziyi who commans 12 to 15 million yuan (US$1.94 million to US$2.42 million) per film.
Vying for the third spot are Zhao Wei and Zhou Xun who gets around 11 to 15 million yuan (US$1.78 million to US$2.42 million) for every picture they appear on.
Meanwhile, Sun Li is television's highest paid actress, who earns a whopping 87 million yuan (US$1.40 million) for every episode. Sun rose to superstar status in 2012 after she topbilled the hugely successful TV drama The Legend of Zhen Huan.
Yao Di, who recently came under the spotlight for his dalliance with actor Wen Zhang landed the second spot after commanding 84 million yuan (US$1.36 million) per episode.
Cecilia Cheung placed third, who commands 80 million yuan (US$1.29 million) for episode.
Internationally star Fan Bingbing, meanwhile vied for a three-way tie with Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei, for the fourth spot. The actresses get 30 million yuan (US$4.84 million) together. Fan hit the headline for portraying the eponymous role in The Empress of China, which was the TV retelling of the life of China's very first and only reigning empress, Wu Zetian.
