Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo threatened to sue Fox News over the network's claim that Paris had no-go zones for non-Muslims.
"When we're insulted, and when we've had an image, then I think we'll have to sue, I think we'll have to go to court, in order to have these words removed," Hidalgo told CNN on Tuesday. "The image of Paris has been prejudiced, and the honor of Paris has been prejudiced," she added.

Hidalgo's comments were triggered by a series of reports Fox News aired last week, saying there were no-go zones in Paris, where police and non-Muslims refuse to enter out of fear. The network even showed a map highlighting such zones.
Terror expert Steve Emerson, a guest at Fox's Justice with Janine Pirro even went as far as saying, there were parts in England such as Birmingham that were "totally Muslim" and where non-Muslims do not really enter.
Fox later apologized for the error. In a statement, anchor Julie Banderas expressed the network's regret over the report and apologized to those who were offended.
Banderas also clarified that there is no "formal designation" of no-go zones for non-Muslims, as opposed to what was previously reported. The network had no credible information to back the said report, she added.
Fox Host Anna Kooiman also apologized, saying some of the areas were "highlighted incorrectly." Emerson also regretted his statements and said he made "an inexcusable error".
The segment was aired weeks following an attack at the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo which left 12 people dead.
Fox Executive Vice President Michael Clemente told CNN that they empathize with the French citiens in their "healing process" following the deadly shooting. However, he also said Mayor Hidalgo's comments about the lawsuit were "misplaced."
Some experts believe the case Paris plans to file against Fox would not prosper in the United States, where government bodies are barred from suing libel.
