Hope Solo Released Without Bail After Pleading 'Not Guilty' on Domestic Assault Charges

Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Hope Solo has been released without bail after pleading not guilty on domestic assault charges against two relatives in suburban Seattle, Washington.
32-year-old Solo appeared in court, dressed in white shirt and black pants, was released Monday without bail. She only said "I do" when asked if she understood the domestic violence assault charges against her.
Solo was then ordered by the court not to have any contact with the alleged victims and not to drink any alcohol.
Solo was held in jail pending the investigation of two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence assault.
United States Women's National Soccer goalkeeper Solo is accused of being intoxicated while assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew. Her lawyer, Todd Maybrown, says she is a victim in the altercation.
Maybrown said that Hope didn't commit a crime. She was hit in the head by a broom handle.
"Our investigation reveals that Solo was assaulted and injured during this unfortunate incident. We look forward to the opportunity to present the true facts in court and to having this matter behind Hope very soon," said Maybrown in an e-mail.
Solo is set to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing on August 11.
Hope Amelia Solo Stevens currently plays for the Seattle Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and is married to former National Football League (NFL) player Jerramy Stevens. She has been the goalkeeper of the U.S. National Soccer team since 2000 and has won two Olympic gold medals.
The Seattle Reign FC tweeted over the weekend, "We are aware of the situation with Hope and are now gathering information."
The US National Women's team is currently ranked No. 1 by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and had a recent match against France just two days before the incident where Solo did not start as goalkeeper due to family commitments.
