Connecticut May Legalize Tesla Sales

(Photo : Reuters) Elon Musk claims a new announcement will remove range anxiety on the Model S.
Connecticut currently has a ban on Tesla Motors sales, but Republican state senator Art Linares could push to lift this ban, due to his own personal experience.
Linares bought a Tesla Model S a few months ago, but instead of picking it up at his local dealership, Linares had to travel 1 hour and 30 minutes to New York to test drive the car.

To make sure other Connecticut residents don't have to go through the same trouble just to buy a car, Linares is pushing to have Tesla sales legalized in the state. Tesla operates its own show-rooms, not partnering with any dealership so far due to lack of knowledge on electric cars.
"I think that Tesla is an innovative business. They're creating jobs across the country. It's a great vehicle," said Linares. "Just by passing this bill, we can create jobs here in Connecticut."
Tesla has always been open to some compromise with its sales, and has won battles in various states to have bans removed, including in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
There is more to an electric car than simply zero emissions, and Tesla wants to make sure every buyer knows how to charge the car, the tablet features and the new autopilot features in the Model S.
This will become even more apparent when Tesla launches the Model X in the middle of 2015, meaning Tesla will have to focus on the new car doors and other unique features on the mid-range family car.
Tesla is still battling in places like Michigan and Texas, where state-law prevents it from having a place. Tesla's CEO Elon Musk recently hinted at Detroit auto-show that if Michigan were to open Tesla sales, he might consider launching a factory in Detroit.
The new inventive show-room model allows Tesla Motors to sell directly to the customer, and hire people with understanding on each part of the Model S (and upcoming Model X). Some states feel threatened by this new show-room, especially states with big car dealerships.
