Shanghai Film Fest: 'Little England' bags Best Film, Best Actress and Best Director

The Greek film "Little England" was the biggest winner at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival.

The Golden Goblet Award was bagged by the "Little England" for best film. Also conquered the best actress and the best director awards at the 17th edition of the fest,

The awards were handed out at the Shanghai Grand Theatre by a jury panel led for the first time by a woman, Chinese actress Gong Li.

The jury panel also included Korean director Im Sang-soo; British director Sally Potter; Danish director Lone Scherfig; Chinese director Liu Jie; Iranian actor Peyman Moaadi and Japanese director Shunji Iwai.

The Jury Grand Prix went to  Zhang Meng's, "The Uncle Victory", the only Chinese film in the competition.

However, a controversy was behind the award as its actor Huang Haibo was detained for 15 days for having sex with a prostitute, and the film was not shown in public.

The best actor Gong went to Vithaya Pansringarm, a Thai actor who played the role of Chavoret in Tom Waller's "The Last Executioner".

Best screenplay award went to Cyril Gely and Volker Schlöndorff for "Diplomacy".

Luo Pan was best cinematographer for "The Sacred Arrow", while the outstanding artistic achievement in music award  went to Gregg Alexander for "Begin Again".

The fest featured Hollywood stars Natalie Portman, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman and concluded with an early screening of "Transformer: Age of Extinction".
