Uruguay's star striker Luis Suarez appeared to have bitten an Italian player during their match at the 2014 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup which could have led to Uruguay's victory over Italy.

The apparent bite took place late in the second half when Suarez clashed with Italian player Giorgio Chiellini. The game officials apparently did not notice the incident which prompted Chiellini to rush towards referee, Marco Rodriguez of Mexico.
Chiellini pulled down the left shoulder part of his jersey to show Rodriguez the apparent bite marks but ignored it. Other Italian players yelled at the Rodriguez but he did not respond.
A few moments later after the incident, Diego Godin, Uruguay's captain, gave them the only goal that eliminated the Italians from the knockout round of the World Cup.
Just before the apparent biting, Rodriguez pulled out his red card on Italy's Claudio Marchisio for a reckless tackle which caused Italy's team captain and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to run from his penalty area to protest. But the game went on leaving Italy with just 10 men on the field.
Uruguay's win clinched them of a place in the Round of 16 and will play Colombia in their knockout round on Saturday just after the match between host country Brazil and Chile.
Suarez has been penalized twice before for biting another player during a match. In 2010, the Dutch league barred him from playing at least two games for biting PSV Eindhoven midfielder Otman Bakkal.
Suarez was then playing for the Ajax Amsterdam and a newspaper, De Telegraaf, called him the "Cannibal of Ajax."
In April of last year at the Premier League in Liverpool, Suarez was caught on video biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. The biting did not eject him from the game or even a penalty, but after the match, Suarez was suspended for 10 games.
Uruguay's win over Italy may have landed them in the knockout rounds but will Suarez be playing?
