Huawei Opens New NFV Lab in China

Chinese telecom giant Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is opening its new state-of-the-art network functions virtualization (NFV) open lab in Xi'an, China.
NFV is a network architecture concept that aims to virtualize entire network nodes that can be connected for communications.

The new open lab will develop multi-vendor integration verification capabilities and expand joint service innovations with customers, partners and industrial organizations.
It intends to accelerate the development of open ecosystem for NFV infrastructure, platforms and services.
"The NFV open lab is an open innovation center of ICT convergence dedicated to being open and collaborative, expanding joint service innovations with partners, and developing the open ecosystem of NFV to aggregate values and help customers achieve business success," said Howard Liang, senior vice president and president of Global Technical Services.
Partner companies include China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, Red Hat, Canonical and VMware.
Huawei also announced it will be working closely with industrial organizations and the open source community to offer technical contributions, code development and integration capabilities, to support the open NFV initiative.
Industrial organizations and the open source community include ETSI, OpenStack, OpenDaylight and Open Platform for NVF.
