While the firm working on this huge online theft problem, Blignaut will become acting CFO and will also take on the job of chief risk officer.
"The incident involved employee impersonation and fraudulent requests targeting the company's finance department, resulting in the transfer of $30.8 million in corporate cash to overseas accounts."
Xoom said federal law enforcement authorities have already been notified and that a multi-agency criminal investigation team has already been formed to determine who the criminals are.
Xoom contacted federal law-enforcement authorities who are pursuing a criminal investigation. The company said it doesn't believe customer data or money was involved in the fraud.
