Japanese military contractor Haruna Yukawa was allegedly beheaded by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) after Japan failed to meet the 72-hour deadline to pay a US$200 million ransom.
ISIS released on social media site on Saturday a new video showing the other hostage, journalist Kenji Goto, holding a photograph of the corpse of Yukawa. The video was released their several IS-linked Twitter accounts, according to SITE Intelligence Group, a U.S.-based group.

Goto's voice is heard in the video, which shows only his photo, warning his family, "You have seen the photo of my cellmate, Haruna, slaughtered in the land of the Islamic Caliphate. You were warned. You were given a deadline, and so my captives acted upon their words."
U.S. National Security Council deputy spokesman Patrick Ventrell said the country's intelligence agencies is trying to confirm the video's authenticity.
Informed of the decapitation and while still awaiting verification of the video, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said, "Fully aware of unbearable pain and sorrow that this family must be feeling, I am simply left speechless ... Such act of terrorism is outrageous and impermissible, which causes me nothing but strong indignation. This I express resolute condemnation," quotes USA Today.
According to Kyoto News agency, the extremist group emailed the video to the wife of Goto.
Following the news of the beheading, U.S. President Barack Obama sought the release of Goto and other ISIS hostages as he promised to work together with Japan to bring the group behind the beheading to justice as well as to weaken and defeat ISIS.
But the different style of the video, which didn't show the decapitation and only a still image of Goto, placed doubts on the authenticity of the clip.
In the video, Goto ended by saying that ISIS is no longer demanding ransom money but wants a prisoner trade, his head for Sajida al-Rishawi, a female suicide bomber from al-Qaeda detained by Jordan for the death of 57 people at the Radisson SAS hotel in Amman.
Goto emphasizes, "I would like to stress how easy it is to save my life. You bring them their sister from the Jordanian regime, and I will be released immediately. Me for her," quotes Reuters.
