"Making the Amazon Appstore available on BlackBerry 10 devices will help BlackBerry continue to meet two essential needs: greater app availability for our smartphone users and enhanced productivity solutions for enterprises," John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry, said in a statement.
Since his joining last year, Chen has been working diligently to make BlackBerry profitable again by focusing more on software providing than manufacturing. He has also successful cut many costs which has increased BlackBerry's customer base.
"We've listened to our customers and have taken this important step to deliver on their needs, while executing on our strategy.", Chen stated.
Amazon and BlackBerry, in collaboration, will work with latter company's developer community to bring the play into execution. With this move the developer community will be able to take advantage of several services provided by Amazon. These include the promotional programs such as Amazon Coins, and Developer Select. While the former allows users to easily make in-app purchases, the latter will help developers to design apps which can easily reach to their target customers.
