On June 23, three Al Jazeera journalists were sentenced to seven years in a maximum security prison by an Egyptian court after they were accused of spreading false news and supporting the Muslim Brotherhood.
The sentencing has triggered international outrage and many have referred to the sentences as an "unjust verdict".

Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy, and Baher Mohamed were the three journalist tried and found guilty in the Cairo court. While Greste and Fahmy received a seven year penalty, Mohamed was saddled with an extra three years for possession of a spent bullet casing at the time of his arrest.
A video of the three defendants' reactions to their sentencing has come to light recently and reveals a heartbreaking inside look at what the world has deemed to be an extremely biased and unfair trial.
Louis Loveluck, a reporter for the Christian Science Monitor, was present at the Cairo sentencing and managed to capture on camera the moments after the journalists were sentenced, just prior to them being dragged from their cages in the courtroom.
Despite a man placing his arm in front of Loveluck's camera in an attempt to prevent her from recording the incident, the chaos is evident in the three men's reactions and Fahmy can be heard shouting:
"They will pay for this, I promise they will pay for this," after police dragged him from the cage in the courtroom.
Al Jazeera has stood unequivocably by its journalists and maintained that the three are only " 'Guilty' of covering stories with great skill and integrity. 'Guilty' of defending people's right to know what is going on in their world," - as the news source's English managing director, Al Anstey, so eloquently said in a statement after he heard the outcome of the trial.
The imposition of harsh sentences on journalists has also sparked global concern over growing media restrictions in Egypt.
