Orange Is The New Black, Downtown Abbey Win Best TV Ensemble

The 21st Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night saw awards handed to a variety of groups, although Orange is the New Black still emerged as the most awarded TV show.

Viola Davis went emotional as she receive the top acting honors-outstanding female actor in a drama-for portraying a law professional embroiled in a murder for the crime series How to Get Away with Murder. Viola paid tribute to her executive producer Shonda Rhimes and the rest of the staff for "thinking that a sexualized, messy, mysterious woman could be a 49-year-old dark-skinned African-American who looks like me."

Uzo Aduba, meanwhile, picked the best female actor for a comedy series for her portrayal of the emotionally unstable lesbian in the comedy Orange is the New Black, which also grabbed the best comedy ensemble, breaking the Modern Family's long record win.

Aduba, who scored her first-ever career win, was tearful when she accepted her trophy, as she thanked her castmates, "without whom this is not possible. I love you guys so desperately so much. The day I got this job was the day I had stopped acting. And to be in a room with all your amazing talents, for what I respect and love so much, is just the gratest honor."

Kevin Spacey, meanwhile, was handed the outstanding male actor in a drama for House of Cards. Downtown Abbey, as usual, was honored with the best TV drama award.

William H. Macy, who played as the drunk father of a dysfunctional family in Shameless, broke Ty Burrell's three-year reign, as Macy won the male actor in a comedy.

"There are so many great acceptance speeches I never got to give but not tonight," Macy said.

"To my fellow nominees ... eh, you lost," he continued.

In the miniseries department, Mark Ruffalo grabbed the outstanding actor honors for his role as writer and activist Ned Weeks in the HBO AIDS drama The Normal Hearts.  Oscar-winner Frances McDormand, got the outstanding female actor honor for her performance as the tough but well-meaning, retired schoolteacher HBO's Olive Kitteridge.
