If the Universe Does Move Toward Complexity, Does this Mean God Exists?

(Photo : Wikipedia) A new theory again raises this intractable conundrum.
One scientist is researching material that is way beyond what most scientists are looking into. Clemson researcher Kelly Smith is researching on how the universe produces complexity and, in turn, reason and morality.
Most scientists look at the universe and carry out their research using what they glean from their senses.

Smith continues this tradition, albeit on very abstract topics reason and morality. He continues the tradition but bases his research on recent observable developments that suggest the universe naturally produces complexity.
A philosopher and evolutionary biologist, Smith applied recent theoretical developments in biology and complex systems to answer questions on human purpose and obligation.
He says the basic structure of the universe is one that leans towards a complex existence.
If one were to look at the history of life, the trend goes from disordered energy states that produce molecules and atoms, which then combine to form suns, planets, and then life.
From the dawn of life, the inherent direction is towards complexity as single-celled organisms evolve until they develop rationality and complex cultures.
Recent theoretical developments in biology are beginning to suggest this trend is real. It arises from a basic structure of the universe in a predictable fashion.
Smith says that if the theory is correct, then one could view the universe as a sort of "complexity machine." This implies a certain structure to the universe that is geared to grow away from mere simplicity.
He takes this idea further. He asks, if the systematic growth toward complexity is real. Does this suggest the possible connection to a religious belief?
While it doesn't necessarily mean the universe was created by a god, it could mean that man's rationality is no accident.
The same could be said for our morality.
Thus, if the universe were really patterned in this way, any extra-terrestrial life would develop in much the same rational and moral way that we have, Smith says.
Ironically enough, his research does little to simplify the questions he asks, but is deeply in line with his theory of complexity.
