China’s Foreign Affairs Minister starts taking domestic cars

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC, Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi will take a Hongqi sedan produced by First Automobile Workshop (FAW) as his official vehicle in the future. The model of the vehicle is Hongqi H7 sedan.

"2012 Party and Government Institutions Official Vehicle Selected Models Catalogue" was released in February 2012. The selected models on the list are all own brand vehicles. This is considered to be an important signal for domestic vehicle manufacturer.
February 2013, FAW Hongqi H7 sedan received the first order from Jilin Province on a total number of 13 cars. These Hongqi H7 became official vehicles for Jilin provincial and ministerial leaders. FAW Hongqi has won the first cake in official vehicle procurement.
FAW, China's first automobile manufacturer of sedan limousines quietly initiated its Hongqi Revival Program in 2008. A Hongqi sedan manufacture plant was built separately with more than 1600 backbone of the company.
On July 15th, 2012, The Hongqi H7 finally debuted on the Beijing auto Show after 55 years of hard work. Hongqi H7 is developed from the HQ3 platform and may be joined by other Hongqi models. Some sales are through government procurement; the car is billed as "the official car for minister-level officials". FAW is the owner of the Hongqi brand.
Five models with 3.0L or 2.0L engines were launched. MSRP of 3.0L V6 Luxury is 399,800 Yuan; MSRP of 3.0L V6 Premium is 479,800 Yuan; 2.0T Tech model is 299,800 Yuan, 2.0T Luxury model is 319,800 Yuan and 2.0T Premium is 379,800 Yuan.
Hongqi H7 insists on the development principles of independent and commercialization. FAW Group focuses on the research of luxury executive car, the company is eager to win a place in luxury car market.
