Late comedienne Joan Rivers' daughter is filing a lawsuit against the New York City clinic where she had her last surgery that eventually caused her death.
According to People Magazine, Melissa Rivers is suing Yorkville Endoscopy Center in New York, as it was the last surgical procedure her mother had to go through that led to her death just a week after it was done. The comedienne's daughter said that it is one of the most difficult decisions she ever had to make.

Joan Rivers was 81 years old when she underwent a surgery that involved her throat and her vocal chords back in August of 2014. The comedienne stopped breathing during the procedure and died after a week.
Melissa made a statement regarding what happened to her mother on Monday during an interview with People saying, what really guided her to make that decision is the unwavering belief that no family should ever have to experience what her whole family have been through from what the clinic has done to her mother's life. It was almost unfathomable for her to think of the level of medical mismanagement, incompetency and outrageous behavior the facility has shown to her family.
She added that it is not just her mother who deserved to be treated better but every patient deserves better. Her aim is to make sure that such tragic medical malpractice does not happen to anyone again.
In November of 2014, the mistakes made by the doctor who attended Joan during her surgery were found by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDH). Apparently, the doctor and the staff of the clinic were responsible for her irreversible brain damage.
According to the NYSDH, the doctors in charge of the care of the patient failed to identify deteriorating vital signs and provide timely intervention during the surgery.
