The match was seemingly identical as 30-year-old Meusburger starts both sets ahead with a 2-1 lead but Li immediately counterattacks and takes 5 straight games to win it 6-2 6-2 in one hour and nine minutes.
32-year-old Li, who achieved her second Grand Slam title in the Australian Open early this year and the French Open title in 2011, had 33 winners during the match but also committed 21 unforced errors which she has to improve as she progresses through tournament.
"I hit a lot of winners, right? If you want to play more aggressive, this is the normal way. If you play defensively, of course, you will make less mistakes," Li said after the match.
Another Chinese Peng Shuai also saw action Wednesday as she went up against 109th seed Russian Maria Kirilenko. Peng totally dominated the Russian in the first set as she shuts out Kirilenko 6-0.
In the second set, Kirilenko got over her nerves and starts fighting back but Peng with only nine unforced errors eventually rallied to win it 6-3.
Peng, along with Hsieh Su-wei are the defending ladies doubles champions at Wimbledon and are currently ranked No. 1. They will see action Thursday and are pitted against the tandem of Darija Jurak of Croatia and American Megan Moulton-Levy.
2011 Wimbledon champion and sixth seed Czech Petra Kvitova also saw action against German Mona Barthel which she crushed 6-2 6-0.
Fourth seed Polish Agnieszka Radwanska and five-time Wimbledon champion American Venus Williams got thru the third round as well.
