Lizard Squad's Back; Threatens More DDoS Attacks on Gaming Networks

Lizard Squad, a group notorious for its distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on gaming companies, recently promised it would put an end to targeting network servers, but now vows more attacks.
It previously unleashed numerous DDoS attacks against several game servers, including the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The group is notorious for its massive attack on Christmas Day 2014 that caused the servers of both Xbox and PlayStation to crash, leaving thousands of gamers worldwide unable to play online for a couple of days.

Following the Christmas DDoS attack, Lizard Squad promised it would no longer attack network services. And so far they've lived up to that promise, as Sony and Microsoft networks haven't been hit so far. That's likely to soon change, however.
"Going to resume the rape of online gaming services very soon," Lizard Squad said via Twitter, which is the main source of information on the group.
When Lizard Squad threatens to launch attacks, it usually tends to always go forward with them. It's happened several times and many gamers didn't believe they would launch the massive attack on Christmas, but were quickly proved wrong.
Lizard Squad is reportedly made up of a number of teenagers and young adults who started unleashing DDoS attacks on gaming companies "for the laughs." This later turned into an effort to expose network issues for Xbox and PlayStation and ultimately forcing Microsoft and Sony to upgrade their security.
Whether or not the two gaming giants have been able to upgrade its security or not remain to be seen. But Lizard Squad presumably wants to put the theory test and attempt to further expose Sony and Microsoft's server complications.
