'Yeti' Spotted in Streets of Boston Amid Blizzard

Amid heavy snowfall and howling winds, an "abominable snowman" was seen straddling the icy streets of Boston on Monday night.

Boston locals stayed indoors in preparation for this year's historic blizzard. Not all heeded the warning - a tall being draped in a fluffy, snow-white get-up with gray gloves welcomed the freezing weather.

Known on Twitter as @BostonYeti2015, the user posted updates on the trip. The mythical "yeti" began its snowy trip in Massachusetts' Somerville at nearly 11:00 in the evening.  A couple of minutes later, the furry creature headed for Boston's McGrath Highway.

As more snow continued to blanket the roads, the yeti tweeted a message to everyone: "@BostonYeti2015 enjoying the snow, not bar hopping despite rumors"

Reports of "sightings" of the snow-loving yeti started to pour into Twitter: "Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Go Back Out Into the Blizzard" and "There's a yeti on the loose."

One person even tweeted about joining the yeti: "All I want to do tonight is hang out with @BostonYeti2015."

While the city wonders who the yeti could be, the daring comedian braving the snow as a creature of mystery brought fun during the blizzard.

Meanwhile, 70 mph winds battered Boston and other areas in New England, blanketing the place with more than 2 feet of snow, but managed to spare New York City.

The blizzard's fierceness and power took by surprise even snow-hardened New Englanders. It was described as a "wicked storm" by a local, Jeff Russell, said as he struggled with a snowdrift that could cover a window of his place in Scarborough, Maine.

The New England snow storm started Monday evening and went on the next day. Boston's blizzard warning ended on Tuesday evening as the snow petered off, but another warning remained in effect over Cape Cod and nearby areas.
