Loretta E. Lynch, the nominee of United States President Barack Obama for attorney general (AG), spoke before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday and defended the legality of Obama's immigration actions and other projects.
Republicans in the Senate wanted to assure that Lynch's approach to various national issues would be different from that of present AG Eric H. Holder, Jr.

Critics say her view on the immigration actions are crucial by critics and could affect the votes of some Republicans opposing the move. Obama had unilaterally decided last year to make some moves in order to assure illegal immigrants threatened by deportation.
Republican Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama asked Lynch at one point of the speech about who has more right to have a job in the U.S. - American citizens, green card holders or unlawful immigrants. Lynch then said she believed the right and obligation to work in the country is shared by everyone regardless of status or of how they came to the U.S.
"I would prefer that they be participating in the workplace than not participating in the workplace," Lynch added.
Sessions again asked her who has the right to demand a job between those who came to the U.S. lawfully or those who got into the country unlawfully. She said the citizens have more right to demand jobs.
Lynch also mentioned that she already read the legal opinions of the Justice Department regarding the issue and she does not see any reason to doubt that the views are unreasonable. However, she has not yet confirmed where she stands on the issue thus Democrat Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York said Obama's immigration policies will not yet be established.
Lynch has not yet been confirmed for the post but if she wins, she would be the first African-American attorney general of the country. She assured Republicans that if she is to be confirmed, she will not be the same as Holder.
"I look forward to fostering a new and improved relationship with this committee, the United States Senate, and the entire United States Congress - a relationship based on mutual respect and constitutional balance," said Lynch.
