The Green Lantern reboot is set to be released in 2017, but the lengthy wait hasn't stopped Tyrese Gibson from launching his own campaign to snag the role.
The "Fast and the Furious" actor has been using his Instagram account to reach out to Warner Bros. executives and let them know how badly he wants to play the hero, who will also be featured in at least two "Justice League" films.

The 36-year old actor and singer has posted a string of poster-style photos of himself as Green Lantern.
"Determined!!! I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure," the actor captioned the photo he posted on Tuesday.
"In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!," said another caption.
To date, Warner Bros. has not revealed who will slip on the ring in "Justice League Part One", which is due to hit theaters in 2017, or in the "Lantern" standalone film, scheduled for 2020.
It is also uncertain which of the Green Lantern characters the films will feature. Some reports have suggested that it might be John Stewart, a black character whose storyline was made in the 70s, or it could again be Hal Jordan.
Ryan Reynolds played the Green Lantern in the 2011 film; sadly the film was a box-office flop.
Tyrese, who stars in the Furious 7, can be seen on the big screen on April 3, while his new album "Black Rose" comes out this March.
