World Wrestling Entertainment has announced its US$9.99 streaming network has surpassed 1 million subscribers 11 months after the original launch.
The announcement makes WWE Network the fastest growing streaming service in the world. WWE noticed a 37 percent increase in total subscribers since its last announcement on third quarter of 2014.

"We're thrilled that we've surpassed the 1 million subscriber milestone less than a year after launching WWE Network and in advance of WrestleMania, our biggest event of the year on March 29," said WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon. "We remain focused on delivering an outstanding value proposition for ours fans by adding new content and new features in the coming year."
The large drive in subscriptions over the Q4 2014 and Q1 2015 come from the free November promotion, Royal Rumble event and the launch of the service in the UK for £9.99 per month.
Average viewing rates are good, with 90 percent of subscribers accessing once per week, and 99 percent once per month. 86 percent of subscribers are happy with the service currently, although a recent #CancelWWENetwork campaign may have lowered ratings, due to an unpopular fighter winning the Royal Rumble.
Some WWE fans accused the script-writers of being out of touch with the fanbase, but generally WWE ratings seem to be fine after the Royal Rumble event.
WWE will be holding its annual Wrestlemania event on March 29 this year at Levi's Stadium, California. WWE Network should see a spike in subscribers over that period as well.
