The apparent loss of USA means that they placed second in Group G and will also advance to the round of 16.
Mark your calendars for on Saturday, for the most exciting part of the World Cup is about to begin.
Host nation Brazil will take on Chile in the first match scheduled Saturday with star striker and poster-boy Neymar leading Brazil after his sensational two goals against Cameroon. Their match will be held at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte.
Following the Brazil-Chile clash will be the Suarez-less Uruguay against Colombia. Luis Suarez has been banned for four months by FIFA for biting Italian player Giorgio Chiellini during their crucial match and will not play for the rest of the World Cup. They are scheduled to play at 5 p.m. local time at the Estadio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.
Sunday's match-up will be a nail-biter as the proud Dutchmen of the Netherlands faces off against the fiery Mexicans at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza and Costa Rica will go head-to-head with Greece at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife.
France will go up against Nigeria on Monday at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia and recent qualifiers Germany will go up against Algeria at the Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre.
Argentina and Switzerland will clash on Tuesday at the Arena de Sao Paolo in Sao Paulo and capping of the knockout rounds will be Belgium against USA at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
With the current line-up of the round of 16, if statistics would be in play, Brazil will win its match and will go up against Uruguay in the quarterfinals. Last World Cup's runner-up Netherlands might have troubles with Mexico but will eventually move on to fight against the Costa Ricans who cruised thru their group.
Nigeria has defeated France before and might have a slight edge over the Frenchmen. Germany has appeared in the semi-finals in the past three World Cups and experience will definitely prevail them over its counterpart Algeria.
Lionel Messi and the Argentineans have won four international matches against Switzerland and should win against them while USA has its hands full against Belgium and will need every trick in the book to defeat them.
