After three days of trial, the Boy Scouts of America agreed to settle with a 20-year-old male Californian who was a victim of sex abuse by a Scout volunteer in 2007.
Tim Hale, the lawyer of the complainant, declined to provide to media the exact amount of payoff upon the request of the Boy Scouts but said "it was a great result."

The monetary compensation stopped the possible publication of the organization's perversion files that a court has ordered the Boy Scouts to turn over to the victim's lawyer.
It contains 100,000 pages of internal documents from 1971 to 2007 in a CD. Most of the documents are classified information that only some people from the Boy Scouts have access to.
Hale planned to use 100 of the files next week and discussed on Thursday in open court the contents of two files. The lawyer has the remaining copies of the documents, but it is sealed and covered by a judge's protection order.
Deron Smith, spokesman of the Boy Scouts, admits, "The behavior in these reports run counter to everything for which the BSA stands."
He said the organization regrets the times that its best efforts were not enough to protect the children from sexual molestation and reiterated the Boy Scouts is sorry to the victims and their families.
In 2012, the National Council of the BSA reviewed all the files from 1965 and informed authorities of any files that were not clear if a report was made to the police.
The offender, Steven Stein, who was 29 in 2007, filed a no contest plea to the felony child-endangerment charge and was placed on a five-year probation and sentenced to two years prison term. However, he got an early pardon and is currently a registered sex offender in Salinas.
