In what seems like Microsoft's substitute for Chrome, Opera browser finds a niche in Nokia's Android powered X phones.

The Norwegian Company Opera, was once a leading and widely preferred mobile browser. However, due to tough competition given by the in-built browsers in Android and Windows OS based systems, the browser began to lose its user-base. The users started preferring the browsers pre-incorporated in the mobile phones.

This Tueday, Nokia launched X2 smartphone, which is a budget smartphone and runs on customized Android OS. It supports dual-sim and is available in the market at around $135.

The major changes in Nokia's version of Android include the browser which is Opera instead of Chrome. Other popular Google features such as Google search, and Google Play are replaced with Bing and third party appstores respectively.

"We have worked closely with the Microsoft Devices Group on this project, to make sure the users of Nokia X affordable smartphones can have the best web browsing experience right out of the box," Lars Boilesen, Opera's Chief Executive, said in a statement.

One important thing to note here is that while Opera seems to be taking over Google Chrome, it still is highly influenced and inspired by the same. In 2013, Opera reportedly jeopardized its own Presto browser engine and got on Chromium project, which is owned by Google.
