Google to Come Up With Android Powered Set-Top Boxes

Despite having experienced failures in previous attempts at TV projects, Google hasn't given up yet. This time it has come with an innovative TV set-top box, which will enable the users to not only watch content, but also listen to music, and play games!
The latest move by Google to foray into the television market, would be its third attempt. Previously, in 2010 Google had ventured into the TV sphere with Google TV, which failed miserably, or, as its former partner stated it as- "a mistake of implementation of a gigantic nature."

Google believes that the market of streaming media boxes and TV, is quite substantial, and hence the company wants to try again, in hopes of accomplishing their aim this time.
Experts predict that by 2017 the devices that could plug into TV systems and play streaming videos and music, are expect to grow by a factor of 300 million units. It would be double the figure taken from the previous year. Also, it is worth noticing that almost half of US population which owns TV systems, connect them to internet in one way or another.
We have already witnessed that such kind of products can become quite popular among the people, given that the marketing is done right. This happened when Apple came up with Apple TV, which though started with a slow pace, later brought the company a business of whopping $1 billion.
And so, if Google manages to lure people into using its new TV product, making the use of its popular Android OS, then chances are that it may hit jackpot for real this time.
