Youtube Taps Online Celebrities to Battle Katy Perry's Super Bowl Halftime Show

All eyes and ears turn to the Super Bowl halftime stage this Sunday, as pop stars Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz look to entertain fans. However, another spotlight is being setup in cyberspace, as Youtube joins the battle for halftime show dominance.

The Super Bowl this Sunday features the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. The action between these two teams should be enough to garner the excitement of any and all football fans.

However, as is customary in the largest football game in the world, a grand entertainment number is done for the fans during halftime.

Through the years it has evolved into an event that people  look forward to. Who better to fill the spot than Perry and Kravitz then?

Other citizens though look to push the boundaries of the Super Bowl half time show to a different plane: the internet.

Video-sharing website Youtube will team up with some of the largest online celebrities and make their own halftime show for people to tune in to. Through the company's blog, they stated that they will be collaborating with more than 20 Youtube stars.

One such star is Freddie Wong. He is the co-founder of the production group, RocketJump, the company behind the hit series "Video Game High School".

Wong was initially known though for the videos that he made online. He specializes in action sequences and special visual effects.

To date, RocketJump has garnered more than one billion views and seven million subscribers on Youtube. This is what prompted Forbes to place Wong in their "30 under 30" list, joining celebrities like Blake Lively and Zac Efron.

Youtube also reported that the co-founder of the successful "EpicMealTime" web show, Harley Morenstein, will be hosting their halftime show.

Creating a whole new Super Bowl halftime show, and on the internet no less, has never been done before.

Though new, it does not seem absurd, as more and more American television shows are finding their home online with the likes of Hulu and Netflix.

The musical talents of Perry and Kravitz will also be available on the real Super Bowl show though.

But, depending on your interests, you can also tune in to the Youtube halftime show, where they will be entertaining viewers with fake Super Bowl ads, musical numbers and stunts.
