After an upset on China's No. 2 seed Li Na Friday, the only Chinese competitor left who has a chance in winning the ladies' singles Wimbledon crown is Peng Shuai who defeated American Lauren Davis in the third round.

28-year-old Peng fell early in the first set as she committed numerous unforced errors that Davis capitalized on eventually losing the set 0-6.
But the defending Wimbledon doubles champion was not to be outdone as Peng rallied through the remaining sets and wins it 6-3 6-3 to advance to the fourth round of play.
Peng, seeded No. 61, will now have her hands full as she battles it out against sixth seed Czech Petra Kvitova, who early Friday defeated five-time Wimbledon champion American Venus Williams in a brilliant display of nerves 5-7 7(7) 6(2) 7-5, on Monday.
Peng's partner, Hsieh Su-wei of Chinese Taipei, was already eliminated in the first round of the ladies' singles but they still have a title to defend as they went on to win their first round of doubles play Thursday against the tag-team of American Megan Moulton-Levy and Croatian Darija Jurak in two straight sets 6-2 7-5.
The Italian second seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci also won their first round of match against Serbian Jelena Jankovic and Russian Alisa Kleybanova Wednesday 6-2 6-2.
Would this be a haul of the French Open Finals where Peng and Hsieh went up against Errani and Vinci?
Wishful thinking
If Peng Shuai wins her match Monday against sixth seed Czech Petra Kvitova and 32-year-old Li Na won her match against Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in the third round and wins again against Denmark's Caroline Wozniaki, then we could be looking at an all-Chinese quarterfinals between Peng and Li.
Millions of Chinese tennis fans would have loved to see that encounter.
