South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics recently hired Dora Hsu, a former Google employee, to lead its Internet of Things (IoT) developer platform, SmartThings.
SmartThings, a company that focuses on developing smart devices, was acquired by Samsung last August.
Hsu, who worked at Google for 14 years as senior director of its cloud platform, will lead SmartThings as Chief Officer.

Reports say she will be working on the developer platform product, including the engineering group. She will also be in charge of convincing other companies and developers to adopt the SmartThings platform.
"Our mission at SmartThings has always been to offer the easiest way for anyone to turn their home into a smart home while empowering the developer community to innovate on our platform," said Alex Hawkinson, founder and chief executive officer of SmartThings.
"Dora's expertise in driving platform growth will be critical as we look to expand the community and the tools needed to build leading products and services." Hawkinson added.
The South Korean tech giant also recently announced it plans to launch new smart home appliances, such as TVs, refrigerators and air conditioners, this year. The new appliances will work on the company's Tizen operating system.
