China is one of the countries leading the way in adopting new technology, global research firm GfK has said.
According to its Roper Reports Worldwide study, GfK found that 44 percent of Chinese Internet users say they are excited to use new technology products and services and use them whenever they can. This number surpasses the whole of Asia-Pacific's average total of 29 percent, according to a news release by PR Newswire.

In China, more men (49 percent) welcome new technology compared to women (39 percent). In addition, 30 percent of Chinese Internet users believe one must master new technology and services to remain updated. In that regard, 32 percent of female Internet users agree with the statement, in contrast to 28 percent of their male counterparts.
The GfK study also revealed that there is a higher proportion of older Chinese people that are excited in using new technology. About 35 percent of Chinese Internet users aged 50 to 59 agree with the statement, while the number climbs further up to 41 percent for those beyond the age of 60.
The findings show that China is a "particularly welcoming market" for the launching of new technology products and services, according to GfK China's Managing Director Alfred Zhou. He also said Chinese consumers' attitude towards new technology has risen in the last three years.
Zhou said the online market is expected to make up 17 percent of the total TCG (technical consumer goods) market revenue in China. This is an improvement from the 8 percent previously recorded from 2011.
China's online market has grown rapidly in the last few years because of the drive from the online population. GfK's retail data shows China's TCG market is seen to go past the CNY308-billion mark (US$49.6 billion) in 2014 compared to the CNY106- billion (US$17 billion) it had achieved in 2011 - a 43 percent compound annual growth rate.
GfK's Roper Reports Worldwide study is being conducted every year across 25 countries all over the world and the findings cited in this article were fused with retail audit data from GfK China. The said data were taken from the 2013 study in which 1,500 Chinese more than 15 years of age were interviewed.
