Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe became the year's newest popular Internet meme after being photographed mid-fall and attempting to have the picture deleted.
Mugabe, the recently elected chairman of the African Union, was in Harare, Ethiopia last Wednesday to give a speech before a crowd. As he walked away from the podium, he almost fell and a photographer captured the moment.

When the government of Zimbabwe was asked about it, almost all the officials including Information Minister Jonathan Moyo said nobody has shown evidence that the president fell down because it did not happen.
"The hump on which the president tripped was formed by two pieces of the carpet which apparently had not been laid out properly where they joined," Moyo explained. "And to be honest with you, even Jesus, let alone you, would have also tripped in that kind of situation."
Moyo added that the media should not write that Zimbabwe's president fell because Mugabe himself was able to break the fall.
According to reporters, local photographers have been claiming that the security personnel of Mugabe forced them to delete the pictures of the alleged fall. However, there were those who were able to save a copy which made its way to the internet.
On Twitter, the hashtag "#MugabeFalls" has been trending since weekend. Internet memes featuring Mugabe's "fall" also went viral on various social networking sites.
The original photo of the fall was photoshopped to show Mugabe being in a dance floor during an episode of "Dancing With The Stars" while another showed him dancing alongside Beyonce in her famous music video of "Single Ladies". Others featured Mugabe skateboarding and one photo even showed the African leader replacing Rose in one scene of the movie "Titanic".
Despite the funny memes created, the health of Mugabe is still a growing concern as he is set to turn 91 on February. He has been governing his country for 35 years now and reportedly undergoing top secret health treatments.
