Kerry Washington is this month's cover girl of InStyle and while the Scandal star proudly showed off her new cover on her Instagram account, many commented on how different she looked.

The 38-year old's cover is being attacked by many critics and accused the magazine of drastically editing Kerry's physical appearance.

Last Wednesday, Kerry took to Instagram to unveil her latest cover and captioned the photo with, "I'm THRILLED to share with you all that I'm on the cover of this year's March @instylemagazine! Can't wait for you guys to see it and read it! So honored. And crazy excited."

But just like the critics, the actress' fans were far than please and expressed their disappointment over the extremely edited image of Kerry.

A lot of fans posted under the photo of the magazine cover that Kerry posted and said that the edited and "white washed" star was a "false representation" of the actress' real image.

One user, who described the cover as "an egregious mistake" even suggested that the fashion magazine should apologize to Kerry for drastically changing her appearance.

She wrote, "You mean to tell me your editors saw fit to Photoshop @kerrywashington to the point where not only is her complexion is severely lightened but the ENTIRE character of her face is altered?" She continued, "Your magazine needs to issue a statement of apology not only to your readers but to Kerry Washington as well."

Another user, assumed to be a woman also said that the cover prompted her to boycott the magazine. She posted, "Sooooo what you guys do it brighten the photo to a point that Kerry looks WHITE!?? Never buying your magazine again. I'm DISGUSTED! #BLACKISBEAUTIFUL!"

Somebody else who also does not approve of the latest magazine cover added, "They removed everything that makes her Kerry. Why the lighter skin, why the thinner lips? Lord forgive them."
