The China Communist Party (CPC) is cleaning up its ranks on Monday after reports on the expulsion of four of its members surfaced.
Xu Caihou, former Vice Chairman of China's Military Commission, was ousted from the CPC after investigations found him guilty of accepting bribes and taking advantage of his post to assist in the promotion of certain people.

President Xi Jinping presided over the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau meeting where the decision to remove Xu was made.
Xu had been under investigation since March 15 and his case has been handed over to the military procuratorate.
Xu's expulsion showcases the Party's tenacity in fighting corruption with "zero tolerance".
Meanwhile, China National Petroleum Corporations former vice general manager Wang Yongchun was also expelled from the CPC for "severe violation of disciplines and laws," according to the CPC Committee decision.
"Wang took advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others and received a huge amount of bribe," says a CPC release issued on Monday.
The decision will later be confirmed at a plenary meeting of the CPC Central Committee while alleged criminal issues and clues have been transferred to the judiciary for further management.
On the same date, former Vice Minister of Public Security Li Dongsheng was also found guilty of "serious disciplinary violations" in a decision made by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and approved by the CPC Central Committee.
Li will be punished with dismissal from public office as approved by the State Council.
Jiang Jiemin, former head of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, was also removed from CPC for the same violations.
After investigation, the CCDI found Jiang guilty of taking advantage of his position to obtain benefits for others, extorting and receiving a massive amount of bribe.
