Dubai’s plan of constructing The Pearl of Dubai, the world’s largest underwater theme park is on its way and will include scuba diving and snorkelling in an area designed after the mythical Lost City of Atlantis.

According to Emirates 24/7, an online website based in the UAE, Dubai’s underwater theme park is being developed by  Reef Worlds, which is the same team that designed the sets of box-office hit movies such as “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Avatar”.

As of this report, the theme park is considered the largest sustainable underwater tourism attraction and will cover five acres off the city coast.

Dave Taylor, director of development for Reef Worlds, said to Daily Mail that Dubai will offer a different experience with its unique tourism underwater attraction.

"The UAE has a unique tourism problem that we address,” Taylor commented. He also added, “When one considers Dubai and the region, scuba diving and underwater exploration is not on the Top Ten list, and yet it is almost everywhere else in the world.”

Reef Worlds said that they want to help Dubai boost its tourism by constructing the US$3 billion scuba diving and snorkeling theme park. The Pearl of Dubai will be designed to tickle the tourists’ imagination when they see the submerged ruins that were inspired by the mythical sunken city. The National, a government-owned media company, said that the underwater theme park is also aiming to promote marine life.

However, there’s still no definite date  when the theme park will open. Meanwhile, Reef Worlds is also planning to construct a waterfront in the Philippines.

"We will work with carefully selected resort partners on unique underwater habitat projects that directly support our clients' sustainability and revenue goals," Dave Taylor said.
