Anchorman Brian Williams revealed that he will be taking a break from NBC Nightly news amidst an investigation about his memories of his time covering the war in Iraq.
In a memo released by the network to their news staff, the anchorman announced that he will be stepping down for the next several days.

The memo from Williams read, "In the midst of the career I spent on covering and consuming news, it has recently been painfully apparent to me that I am presently too much part of the news due to my claims and actions. But I assure you that upon my return, I will continue my career-long effort to be worthy of your trust."
The memo came as a shock to both the news team and the public because Williams showed no indication of his decision to step-down, he signed off during his Friday broadcast by saying that he hoped people would be back to see him on his show on Monday.
NBC also released a statement from their president, Deborah Turness, on Friday saying that an internal investigation is being done after questions of the authenticity of William's story were raised by both veterans and viewers.
The network has since declined to comment as to whether or not the veteran anchorman will be returning, they also declined to name who will be responsible for Williams' future with the network, although they did confirm that weekend anchor Lester Holt will be taking over the nightly news desk.
