A day after the bloodbath in Douglas County, Georgia, officials from the county's Sheriff Office identified on Sunday the gunman as 33-year-old Cedric Prather. The shooting rampage took place in Douglasville, located 20 miles west of Atlanta, on Saturday afternoon.

Prather killed former wife Latoya Andrews, 33; Joseph Terry Brown, 33; a 7-year-old child; and another 9-year-old. The younger child died at the crime scene while the older one was brought to a hospital but died there, reports Fox News.

The two injured victims, children of Prather and Andrews, are 8 and 15 years old. They are in critical but stable condition at a medical center.

The names of the dead and injured children were not given, but the Sheriff's Office will hold a news conference on Monday to provide more details on the incident which rocked the quiet neighborhood. The motive behind the shooting rampage are among the details the news conference is expected to bring to light.

Teresa Carter, a neighbor of the victims, said she heard gunfire from her house but did not witness the shooting. She initially heard shots, followed by a girl's scream. Then there were four more shots.

Another neighbor, Brandon Hallman, said that after the successive gunfire, he went out of his garage, where he was fixing his car, and checked what was happening. By that time, bodies were strewn in and out of the house.

AP reports that some of the young victims were on the street because they were trying to flee from Prather.

Hallman and some neighbors got some towels and tried to help the victims before the paramedics arrived.
