Assassin's Creed Rogue, the next version of Ubisoft's popular historical fiction action-adventure open world stealth video game, will include eye-tracking.

Tobii Technology, a Swedish firm that develops products for eye control and eye-tracking, is working with Ubisoft to build eye-tracking functionality into Assassin's Creed Rogue.

To avail of this feature, a gamer must have a device like Tobii's SteelSeries Sentry eye-tracking hardware attached to his monitor. It's expected that Tobii will be the only supplier of eye-tracking hardware for Assassin's Creed Rogue. The eye-tracking device costs $200.

Sentry tracks eye movement in real time and overlays that directly onto the real-time screen. Consequently, the streaming gamer can show viewers where he's looking at all times.

Sentry delivers a new way for audiences to see the game exactly as the streamer sees it, literally through the streamer's eyes. Tobii said this brings an entirely new dimension to the viewer experience, and the relationships streamers are able to build with their viewers.

"We are one of the first to integrate this technology in a video game, and the first to implement eye tracking as a gameplay input in a game of that scale, providing Assassin's Creed Rogue gamers with an entirely new, complementary input to the keyboard and mouse", said Corneliu Vasiliu, an Ubisoft producer.

"We recognized the power of eye tracking early and were quick to work with Tobii to create a completely new way to experience a game. We are really proud of the result with Assassin's Creed Rogue".

An added feature is that the game will automatically pause if a gamer looks away from the screen.
