Like spicy food? Chili peppers can also promote weight loss.
A new study shows an ingredient found in chili peppers can help anyone lose some weight after eating a high fat diet.
This wonder ingredient called capsaicin is the main component that makes chili peppers hot. Researchers suggest that a dietary supplement made from capsaicin can be developed to cut down calorie intake from fatty diets.

Laboratory data reveals dietary capsaicin apparently hinders weight gain from a high fat diet causing obesity, according to researcher Vivek Krishnan of the University of Wyoming in the U.S.
Krishnan further explains that white fat cells store energy, brown fat cells are used for thermogenic purposes that burn stored fat. When one eats calorie rich food along with a lack of physical activity, this causes an imbalance in the body's metabolism that often leads to obesity.
Researchers conducted trials on a wild type of mice and fed them a high fat diet and a dietary dose of capsaicin. About 0.01 percent of capsaicin was included in the total high fat diet and prevented the mice from gaining weight even if they ate a high fat diet.
Dietary capsaicin promotes the browning of white fat cells and adipose tissue, which then induces a stimulation of thermogenesis that counters obesity.
Researchers note that developing a natural dietary supplement can be an effective strategy to combat obesity. Scientists believe a nanoparticle-based, sustained release form of the capsaicin can be effective. This substance is now undergoing lab development.
