(Photo : Reuters) The United States named the coalition campaign against the Islamic State group Operation Inherent Resolve on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
Afghan forces have launched drone strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants on Monday, killing a senior IS commander, his brother-in-law and four other Pakistani jihadists, officials said.
The senior official was identified as Mullah Abdul Rauf, recently joined the ISIS and was part of the Taliban group in the past. He was also a Guantanamo Bay detainee and was one of the most influential members of the jihadi movement in Afghanistan for almost a decade.

According to the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Afghanistan, Rauf was the head of the ISIS group in the country. Just last month, he reportedly started to recruit members to the ISIS in the country in order to expand the movement from Iraq and Syria.
However, the deputy governor of the province of Helmand, Mohammad Jan Rasulyar, said it is not yet confirmed if Rauf was really associated with the ISIS militants but he was seen with his followers usually dressed in black outfits. This kind of clothing is similar to those seen in videos and photographs used by the members of ISIS.
Also, in a report back in 2011, Rauf was once interrogated and tried to disguise himself as a low-level Taliban worker in charge of delivering bread. However, prosecutors suspected he held a high position in the group.
Rauf was one of the casualties when Afghan forces fired a missile towards the province of Helmand, Afghanistan, which has been a war-torn province in the recent months. According to police chief Nabi Jan Mullahkhel, Rauf and the other militants were travelling in a car when the missile-firing drone was set off minutes after mid-day
There were no other details regarding the attack but the Afghan forces are part of the U.S-led coalition aiming to dismantle the ISIS. The U.S. has been operating drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan for the past months. They also dubbed the mission as a "successful military operation."
