Top seed Serena Williams and sister Venus decided to withdraw their women's doubles match in Wimbledon stating that Serena suffers from a viral illness and cannot continue.
Reportedly "not feeling well the past few days," Serena opted to try and play their second round match against the tandem of German's Kristina Barrois and Swede Stefanie Voegele but after only 11 minutes and three games down, the American team defaults their match to the latter.

While warming-up at Court No. 1, doctors were called to attend to Serena after missing two shots completely.
Teary-eyed Serena nevertheless went on to start the match but when it's her turn to serve, she double-faulted four times, giving the game to the team of Barrois and Voegele.
It was then that umpire Kader Nouoni called a halt to the match and the Americans then conceded.
Five-time Wimbledon champion Serena then issued a statement after two hours of the match stating that she was heartbroken not being able to continue in the tournament.
“I thought I could rally this morning because I really wanted to compete but this bug just got the best of me," Serena said.
Venus also issued a statement saying that she is proud of her sister for trying and that they love playing doubles together but "Unfortunately Serena has been feeling unwell for the past few days and she just couldn't play to her potential today."
The Americans are currently ranked 8th at Wimbledon and have advanced to the second round by defeating the duo of Georgian Oksana Kalashnikova and Olga Savchuk of Ukraine before conceding their match against Barrois and Voegele.
Speculations abound that Serena was still broken-hearted after her single's loss against Frenchwoman and 25th seed Alize Cornet in the third round. Her half-sister, Isha Price, even said that she was "sad and emotional" after the loss to Cornet.
